Walnut Brittle
Makes about 2 lbs
Ingredients: (courtesy of the Tune Family)
- 1 cup butter
- 1 1/4 cups sugar
- 2 tablespoons corn syrup
- 2 tablespoons water
- 1 cup walnut, pieces
- 2 cups chocolate chips
- candy thermometer
In a saucepan, combine butter, sugar, corn syrup, and water. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until mixture boils. Boil to brittle stage (300 degrees F) on a candy thermometer. Remove from heat. Stir in walnuts. Pour into a 15-1/2 x 10-1/2 lightly greased pan and spread evenly. Sprinkle chocolate chips over brittle. Let stand about 5 minutes until morsels become shiny and soft. Spread over crunch. Cool to room temperature; chill for 1 hour. Break into pieces.
