Biscuits
Makes 15 to 20 biscuits
Baking Temperature: 450 degrees
Time: 6 minutes
Fun activity for kids because the dough is soft and they can form it into letters and shapes.
Ingredients:
2 cups flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/3 cup butter, softened (or 1/4-1/3 cup shortening)
3/4 cup milk
Combine flour, baking powder, and salt in a mixing bowl. Cut in the butter (shortening) with a pastry blender, just until mixture resembles rice kernels. Stir in milk. Form dough into a ball and knead gently 8-10 times on a lightly floured board. Shape dough into 15-20 balls. Or, roll out dough 1/2 inch thick and cut with a biscuit cutter. Or place three small rounds of dough into cupcake pans to make clover leaf biscuits. Place on an ungreased baking sheet 1 inch apart and bake at 450 degrees for 6 minutes or until golden brown.
