Ingredients:
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/3 cup water
- 3/4 cup heavy cream
- 2 tbsp salted butter
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Directions:
- Add Sugar and Water to a heavy bottomed pot and swirl until everything is an even layer.
- Turn heat to low until Sugar has dissolved and water is clear.
- Turn heat to medium high for about 10 to 15 minutes, you should see the sugar begin to change colors to a dark amber. Do not stir.
- Turn the heat off and add the heavy cream. The caramel will probably seize up and clumps will form, just keep stirring until things smooth out. If it's too chunky, turn the heat up to medium and keep stirring.
- Once done cooking, add the vanilla and pour into another container and allow to cool.
- If wanted you can add 1/2 a tsp of salt at the end.
