Ingredients:
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon sugar
1 tablespoon baking powder
2 teaspoons garlic powder
½ teaspoon kosher salt
¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper, optional
1 cup buttermilk
½ cup unsalted butter, melted
1 ½ cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
Topping:
3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley leaves
½ teaspoon garlic powder
Instructions:
Preheat oven to 450° F and convect if available
Mix WARMED buttermilk and melted butter in a large bowl
Mix dry ingredients in a separate bowl
Fold dry ingredients into wet ingredients, do NOT completely mix
Add Cheese to mixture and finish mixing
Lightly dust surface with flour and place mixture on flour
Roll mixture to 1.25" thick
Use a cookie cutter/round to cut biscuits (anywhere between 2.5" and 3.5" is fine)
Bake until center is no longer goey (cheese can kind of distort the "doneness" a bit)
While baking, melt topping ingredients and mix
Once biscuits are done baking, brush with topping
