Note: Recipe is already doubled from original
Ingredients:
- 1 cup butter, softened (2 sticks)
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 2 large eggs
- OPTIONAL: 1/2 tsp peppermint extract
- 2 1/2 cups flour
- 2/3 cups cocoa powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 2/3ish cups chocoate chips
- OPTIONAL: crushed candy canes
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 350 F
- Cream butter and sugar
- Add eggs, cream again (add extract here if using)
- Add flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, and cocoa powder - mix until just combined
- Add chocolate chips, mix until just incorporated
- Chill dough for at least 30 minutes
- Press balls of dough down slightly
- Bake 10 minutes
- OPTIONAL: Sprinkle crushed candy canes on cookies right out of oven
