History-

With testing of the 1X Technology using test vehicles and a few heavily refitted starships in 2269-2271, also known as 1st-Generation X-Technology, or the X-Ship, in a brief Interim period, the people at San Francisco Fleet Yards, noting Chandley Work's development of a new class of Heavy Frigate, and Utopia Planitia's Scout turned Destroyer Design, and decided to quickly expand upon Venus Shipyard's lightly armed Assault Ships and earlier Frigates, and develop a newer, atmospheric warship design using X-Technology, resulting in the Freefall Class, which like some other classes on design boards at 6 major shipyards in the Federation, rearranged the major Enterprise-Class external components, kept some features like increased cargo space and 6 banks of 2 phasers each around the primary hull, and made numerous revisions and expansions, and the ships were somewhat of a success, easily performing well with much heavier armament than earlier Assault Ships, much like how the Ranger II and other newer Scouts were being much more combat-capable than earlier scouts of the Great Awakening, and often entered atmospheres to deliver and cover their troops, fighters, and sometimes shuttles, being able to stay in atmospheres for 36 hours, at least 3 times longer than even the Constitution and Enterprise Classes. But for the success these ships enjoyed, they were expensive at 1,792,800,000 Credits, and only six were completed from 2/1954.25 (February 25th, 2279) to 2/2046.10 (October 10th, 2281), performing well uner Military Command until retirement in 2289, 2334, and 2335.
