History-
Named after Various African and Efrosian People Places and Objects, the Amasi-Class was, along with the Cheetah Class, a Fast Cruiser designed to test the possibility of travelling at Warp 9 for extended periods of time, and with the Constellation Class, they had Quad-Nacelle Engine arrangements, considered a useful redundancy in long-range exploration vessels. As with many Fast Cruisers, they sacrificed firepower for speed, and the Amasis were viewed more as exploration, courier and colony monitoring vessels, which made them shorthanded in the General and Border War.
