B: For each additional 1X in Tech Level, add 1 Damcon, typically 6 or higher

BPV Calculation

Determining the final BPV of the completed ship is fairly simple. Use the following formula when calculating:

Total system cost of ALL systems in the ship, not including Scanner or Damage Control boxes.

Take the total figure and divide by 4. Round appropriately.

This should give you a more than 90% accurate reading of the BPV of the ship.

Use the chart below for determining the cost of each system.

· Note that not all the systems listed here are available to the Federation, but they are given here only for reference.

The following is an example of the way the formula should work:

Federation Frigate

Add the cost of all boxes on ship, including Warp and Scanner

Now take the Total points and divide by 4. The result is 70.75. Round this number appropriately. That brings the number to 71. This is the final BPV of the vessel. You will note, the official BPV of the Federation Frigate is, indeed, 71 points.

I have found that I can get reasonably close, if not right on, the BPV of the official ships, therefore ships designed with my system should come out with a reasonably accurate BPV. However, as with all formulas, there will always be some inconsistencies. Playtesting is the only true way of determining if the final BPV is, in fact, accurate.

For Klingons, add 1/1/2/4/8 Scty for Size 5/4/3/2/1

When converting Klingon to Non-Klingon, change Scty to Hull

Subtract 2 Crew Units, 4 for Federation, Add 4 for Kzinti and Gorn

Add 2 Boarding Parties, 4 for Klingon, 6 for Kzinti and Gorn

For Romulan, (Movie) Klingons and some Orions, add Cloaking Device and multiply BPV by x1.1
