History:

Developed to provide border Starbases and Outposts, as well as a few picket squadrons and smaller fleets with more compact, rapid response ships, the Exlaw-Class ships have been named for multilingual terms for relations to the law, and the Prototype was also named for a 21st century 'wet navy' Guided Missile Cruiser. They made use of slightly smaller, and somewhat inferior Transwarp Engines, and only two of the class were destroyed, one against the Cardassians, and one against the Romulans on January 23rd, 2311, as the Romulan attacks escalated. Due to Utopianists frowning on militaristic ships and practices, the Exlaws were quickly put in reserve in 2315, and quietly retired decades later.

Noteworthy Vessels/Encounters: U.S.S Exlaw; - Prototype, engaged Andromedan Mambas at Gamma Callisto (2300), U.S.S Bylaw; - Destroyed against Romulan V-30 and V-36 Cruisers (2311), U.S.S Inlaw; - transported Admiral Miller and his staff to important conference at Starbase 171 (2314), monitored IKS transmissions and fleet buildup in the Triangle (2304-2305)
