Crusher Industries
The Main Crusher Industries Website
(This is my first shot at doing something like this, so it may need some work. Anyways, here goes:) (BTW, turn on word wrap when reading) The begining of Crusher Ind. as we know it: In an alternate timeline, the United Federation of Planets fared poorly in the
beginning of the First Romulan War. To avoid losing, the Federation began to
obtain as many armed vessels as possible.
Federation admirals contacted anyone with the facilites to convert civilian vessels.
Crusher Industries, then a small civilian freighter manufacturer, worked out an
agreement with the Fed ship bureau in which, Crusher Ind. would arm frighters with
weapons supplied by the Feds and give them to the fleet in exchange for some form
of compensation at the end of the war.
The Federation managed to turn the war around and later signed a peace treaty when
it was apparent to the Romulans that the war turned into a stalemate. From this point on the Federation started to depend more on contracters for their
ship construction.
C Ind. was rewarded with a few newly discovered but unoccupied planets, and enough
parts to expand the shipyards. Because of the good work done by C Ind.,
they were give a contract and plans to construct a few Earth destroyers for the
Federation. Crusher Industries: "Destruction is our business." (We'd better not led the Fed President hear that slogan.) Crusher Industries became a very sucessful arms and ship manufacturer.
The company employs mostly humans. The same person has been owner and president
since at least Y149 and is known only as "The Crusher".
Because C Ind. has provided more than a century of quality service,
they have acess to some Fed classified ship and construction designs.
C Ind. now also builds a few of the more powerful Fed ahips. Little is known by
any race about the internal workings of C Ind. due to The Crusher's concern
(some say obsession) about security.
In the early years of Crusher Industries, all it was is an ordinary company.
As time went by, C Ind. bought more unoccupied planets, made more money,
and developed more construction capacity.
However, the company became increasingly distant and secretive.
By the time of the General War, C Ind. was more like an autonomous province of the
Federation.
With "unauthorized" vessel being barred from entering space owned by C Ind.,
even the Feds had trouble keeping an eye on what was going on. Weapon Technology: Disruptors were chosen as a main weapon because the photon torpedos mounted on the
ships to be sold were supplied by the Feds themselves and as such, C Ind. did not
have most of the plans nor the facilities to construct the torpedoes themselves.
C Ind. managed to make functional copies of the topedoes, but they were
inefficient, bulky, and quite difficult to construct.
Still searching for a heavy weapon for their own use, C Ind. obtained design plans
which the Federation secured from the Klingons.
Due to their simpicity (at least compared to photon torpedos)
C Ind. scientists were able to design mass-producable and effective disruptors,
and so production of them began.
In Y168, C Ind. was having considerable trouble keeping the disruptors up to date
using advanced firing control.
The DERFACS system was apparently unable to be integrated with the current
targeting system, and prototype UIM modules burnt-out at what was considered an
unacceptable rate. Trying another avenue of development, it was decided that improvements should be
made to the weapon itself. C Ind. scientists attempted to increase the power
capacity of the weapon capacitors and output of the emitter.
These new weapons became called "Heavy Disruptors".
The charging time was longer, but was compensated by the increased power per shot
The heavy disruptor became a main weapon on the Series 2 ships.
The prototypes were ready for ship installation about Y170. The Federation gave Crusher Industries gatling phaser technology on the condition
that the Federation was the preferred customer for the phasers produced.
(the rest going to other Alliance members -or at least supposedly...)
This was due to the fact that the Federation didn't produce enough gatling phasers
for all it's escorts and fighters. C Ind. gatling mass-production began Y169. Fleet History: Until Y158, the only ships actually owned by C Ind's were its custom armed frighters.
Due to attempted pirate raids , The Crusher laid out plans for his "Series 1" ships.
(ex: FF, DD, and CL). These were proper vessels.
Their main armament are Crusher Ind. disruptors. When the General War was about to start, The Crusher rushed his "Series 2"
(ex: CM and CA) ships into production.
