History-

The Kauaians are an amphibious race residing in the System L-321 near the heavily populated core of the Alpha Quadrant, 60 ly from the Core Worlds. They were first contacted by the USS Thebes in 2217, and were curious and optimistic over discovering other sentient races, some of which had developed interstellar travel. They eventually interacted with traders, getting enough advanced for the time (0Xe) technology to develop five Transport Ships capable of reaching warp 4 on their own, and in 2259, they joined the Federation as a member race, millions of the Kauaians joining Starfleet and the Merchant Marine.
