SOTSF to FASA/SFB Conversion Rules

These will allow you to convert ships from Ships of the Star Fleet Manuals by Todd Guenther and Eric Kristianson, and import them into FASA's STCS and ADB's SFB.

Crew Conversion

Crew are unchanged for FASA, SFB has them divided by 10 for Crew Units (8 for Gorn)

Marines are unchanged for FASA, SFB has them divided by 10, plus 10 (Federation), 14 (Klingon and Gorn), 12 (most other races)

For ships with Fighters, add 1 Deck Crew per 2 Fighters

Durability Conversion

For Hull, treat the Constitution and Enterprise-Class CAs as 1.0, with 20 Superstructure for Constitution, and 26 for Enterprise, and give both ships 16/20 Hull Boxes in SFB, and view smaller/larger ships as being anywhere from 0.5 to 1.5 times this, with ships of the Excelsior and Ambassador generations going as high as 2.0-3.0, and TNG ships going up to 4.0, 5.0 in the case of some 4X monstrosities.

For Shields, consult the Chart below and apply the results to the ship

0Xe- FSG (1/1) (9) OR 24/18/18/18/18/18

0Xs- FSN (1/2) (16) OR 30/24/24/24/24/24

0Xl- FSO (1/3) (16) OR 36/34/32/32/30

1X- FSP (1/4) (16) OR 40/32/32/32/32

2Xe and 2Xs- FSS (1/4) (20) OR 80/60/60/60

2Xl- FSV (1/4) (24) OR 90/90/90/90/90/90

3X- FSZ (1/6) (48) OR 100/100/100/100/100/200

4Xe- FXSB (1/7) (60) OR 200/200/200/200/200

Shuttle Conversion

The Shuttles are unchanged for FASA, SFB has them divided in half, and remove some of the specialty shuttles, and represent the others with normal SFB Type (GAS, MRS, HTS, MSS).

Transporter/Tractor Conversion

Unchanged for FASA, for SFB, 2 Personnel Transporters, 2.5 Combat Transporters, 2 Small Cargo, 1 Large Cargo, and 4 Emergency Transporters each equal 1 Tran Box.

Constitution/Enterprise CAs and most smaller ships get 2 Trac Boxes, bigger ships get 3-6 Trac Boxes.

For SFB, TOS Phasers are represented by 1 Ph-1 (RIN-9 is represented by a Ph-3), TMP Phasers are represented by 2 Ph-1s or 2 Ph-5s, TNG Phasers are represented by a few Ph-TNGs for smaller arrays, and several PH-TNGs for larger arrays, Ph-TNG Allowance is 2/3/4 per box depending on tech level, alternatively, for each array use 6-12 Ph-6s or 12-24 Ph-7s or 36-50 Ph-9s.
