Covid cases are ascending, are we still in a pandemic?
After 2 long, dreadful years of the Covid-19 pandemic, Carver feels like it's functioning more normally. The mask mandate has been lifted but the covid cases are rising even after the 4th booster.
The Carver Community acknowledges that the school has been persistent with updates about what’s happening around the building and the neighborhood.
“I'm always getting messages about the new protocols or updates with mask mandatories or whether the mask removal," said Tyeefah, a parent of a 12th grader that attends Carver. “I get a phone call, a text and emails. Multiple. A lot…”
Teachers in the carver community are being more available to students, communication is better and students use the resources that are provided .
“It's always simpler to make sure kids are doing well,” said Mr. Ciccarelli, a science teacher at Carver. “It's far simpler just to keep that constant connection with kids checking in with them, making sure that if they're dealing with whatever stress they're handling outside of school, they're handling it well or if they need help, we're here to help them and know what that help would look like."
Covid is still around. The media just have people focused on other stuff but there are thousands of deaths still happening. Vaccinated people are still getting Covid after the 4th booster. In the city of philadelphia 79% of people have at least 1 dose of the vaccine, while only 66% have 2. What is the scare of this vaccine? Why don't 100% of people have it ?
“ I think the biggest cause for that scare is like intentional disinformation just trying to tell people that there's something wrong, something to be concerned with the vaccine.” said Mr Ciccarelli “I think that's first and foremost, like there has been a collective effort to discourage people from getting the vaccine ”. On the other hand nurse kara would like to differ. “I believe that there are people who ask questions, and I believe people may understand that our bodies have natural antibodies.”
Joe Biden is not a health specialist, he is just the president. On September 18th, 2022, Biden stated we were no longer in a pandemic. Nurse Kara agrees.
"We gotta get back to normal and understand that our bodies can heal themselves and we need to get sick, we need to get colds and whether it's a COVID virus or the flu or a cold virus. We need to get sick so that our bodies can get better” said nurse kara.”How many boosters, how many more shots that we're going to get before people understand.”
So that brings us to the question , are we still in a pandemic ?
