If you’re currently a student at Fitz Intermediate or have attended Fitz Intermediate, then you must have heard of Mr. Magana! Mr. Magana has been the assistant principal at Fitz Intermediate since 2018.
Mr. Magana has always dreamt of making a difference in the world and vividly remembers where the inspiration came from: “I was inspired by a cartoon when I was little, and I am attempting to change the world,” he stated. He has been determined to make a difference since he was a kid. With this determination in mind, Gabriel Magana, Jr. worked hard and graduated from UCLA, double-majoring in Psychology and Spanish and minoring in Latin American Studies. These make Mr. Magana a Triple T (triple threat) at Fitz; students are always on their best behavior when he’s around.
Mr. Magana has worked at Rancho High School, the GGUSD District Office, and schools in San José as an educator. Mr. Magana’s biggest achievement is being able to see every single kid succeed. This reveals how much he cares for each of his students.
Since joining the Fitz team, Mr. Magana has made a lot of positive changes. He has changed things like the dress code and introduced the PBIS and DLI programs, among other things. These changes have helped Fitz students improve even more. With the strict enforcement of the dress code, students are more focused in class and have fewer distractions. Students who do not follow the dress code must go to the office and change into appropriate clothes with a warning. He’s been doing an awesome job as an assistant principal.
Every day at Fitz, you’ll see Mr. Magana standing by the MPR in his button-up shirt, along with a tie. Mr. Magana’s everyday job is to help with whatever is needed. For example, Mr. Magana mostly deals with behavior discipline, like students who are dress coded or misbehaving. Students say he deals with discipline so much that they think if he were to teach a subject, it would be drama.
Now that you know more about Mr. Magana, don't be shy to ask him questions! Remember, be on your best behavior—don’t make Triple T have to talk with you!
