Pure Game holds soccer games during lunch every Monday and Tuesday at Fitz. Many students join and get to play with friends. Pure Game is an organization that holds sports games at different schools around Orange County to help students communicate with each other and have good sportsmanship. They also have these games to show off young talent. They hold soccer games at Fitz because the majority of Fitz students like soccer.
Mr. Taviano, the Pure Game employee, said, “Yes, we use soccer as a sport to teach character and leadership to everyone who participates. Our ultimate goal is to encourage you and create a positive environment where everyone that is a part of the Pure Game can open up, bring their qualities, strengths and gifts... and the world wants to see what talent you have.”
Students at Fitz like having soccer games because it gives them a chance to show off their talent. Eduardo Cruz enjoys having Pure Game soccer at our school: “It was fun, you know. All my friends are having a good time.”
The soccer games are not always perfect; there are some imperfections and some people want them to be improved. “I would prefer bigger [goal posts]and a big [soccer] tournament,” an anonymous 7th grader said. Pure Game soccer is for all students to enjoy and have fun. There might be a few adjustments needed, but Fitz students love it.
Pure Game soccer welcomes all students. It is a place to perfect the game and bond with your friends. These soccer games are a good activity to do during lunch if you don’t have anything planned to do. So join us at lunch to play some soccer!
