Pimple Patches Are Helping Kids Feel More Confident

Pimple patches are seen everywhere, especially in school these days. Students seem to enjoy the way that the different color pimple patches draw attention to pimples in a positive way. This causes students to feel less insecure about their acne and it helps them embrace it. 

Some students only use the pimple patches to cover up blemishes that they don’t want to show. Melanie Covarrubias, a 7th grader, says that she likes pimple patches because they cover up her acne so that she’s not worried about her pimples all the time. “I feel like they help so you aren’t so insecure about your pimple, and so you're not always thinking that everyone’s looking at it,” she said. This shows us that some people think that the pimple patches help others feel more confident. 

Other people just use the patches to fit in with others. An anonymous 8th grader has spoken out and said that one time she didn’t have a pimple but seeing how much people were using them, she decided to put one on just to fit in with everyone. This is an example of how people have become more secure about their acne, and how they no longer feel the need to hide it. 

Ms. Trujillo, the ASB advisor and English teacher, thinks that the pimple patches help her students feel better about themselves. Ms. Trujillo went on to say that students wear them because "they feel like they're doing something good.” In other words, the patches are doing something to make the pimple disappear. This shows us that even the teachers think that the patches make students feel great.

Some people don’t really like seeing them all the time. An anonymous 8th grader has had no problem voicing her dislike for the pimple patches: “I think they might be useful to hide pimples; however, it is kind of annoying seeing at least three people with one on their face.” This might be what other people think too, but most people seem to love the patches. 

In conclusion, everyone has a different opinion, but what truly matters is how the pimple patches make you feel in your own body. Some people don’t like how the patches look. Others feel like they make them less insecure, and some people just really love the look that it gives them.
