Cooking Club at BGC

 At the Fitz Intermediate Boys and Girls Club, we have many clubs, but the club with the most people is the Cooking Club, which is led by Ms. Britney. The Cooking Club has lots of members because it’s fun, educational, and helps students learn useful skills. 

Students think that the BGC Cooking Club is the best club! The club teaches new recipes, communication, and most importantly, how to cook!  This school year, many people have joined the Cooking Club. There are over 20 people on the waiting list. For example, Jaslyn Gonolez said, ”I think Cooking Club is the best club at Boys and Girls Club because it teaches you teamwork and teaches you how to cook.” This shows an honest opinion of a student in the Cooking Club and why she thinks the Cooking Club is the best club. As you can see, a lot of people are interested in the Cooking Club and waiting for their turn!

Another reason why students think the Cooking Club is the best club is that students learn how to eat healthy and boost their nutritional knowledge. We can see this when Ms. Britney teaches students about healthy ingredients. For example, before students start cooking, Ms. Britney gives a talk about healthy food and junk food. This is important because students can learn not only about nutritional literacy but also about how Ms. Britney cares about her students. Deven Esquivel agrees. He states, "In my opinion, I think Cooking Club is a helpful and informational club because we learn about eating healthy, and it really helps me when it comes to eating junk food.” The fact that Deven Esquivel agrees that Cooking Club is helpful shows why so many students have joined. All of this proves that Cooking Club has helped many members become more aware of their health and make better food choices. 

Not everyone agrees that Cooking Club is the best club. Some people think it’s overrated. For example, Tanner Gomez says, “I personally think that Cooking Club is just too overrated; all the students just mess around.” This, however, is wrong because BGC Cooking Club has strict rules that keep everyone focused and on task. We can’t just mess around; we have to pay attention and follow instructions. Furthermore, members must respect all the rules or be kicked out immediately. Finally, all members in the Cooking Club are responsible and are in the Cooking Club.

All things considered, the Boys and Girls Club offers a wide variety of Clubs to choose from, each of them having different interests. However, one club clearly stands out as the most popular among members is the Cooking Club.
