For the past two years, Project Kingship has had a significant impact on students, as it's a club where students can express their feelings and know someone is there for them. It's a place where all students can be seen or heard, which helps because you never truly know what students are going through. But who is the person behind Project Kingship?
Mr. Isaac was hired as a Restorative Practice Specialist for Project Kingship in the summer of 2022. However, his first day on the job was October 25, 2024, and ever since then, students have loved him! He has made many students feel better about themselves and has had a positive impact on them. This has made students feel relaxed talking to him because he doesn’t ignore them; instead, he listens to them and gives them advice. One 7th grader stated, “I like Mr Issac because he makes me feel comfortable and doesn’t make me feel weird.” If you have ever seen his classroom, it is always full of students asking to be taken out of class because they know they can trust him. Many students go to him when they feel overwhelmed, need someone to talk to, or just need a moment to reset. His office has become a safe space where students feel heard, respected, and seen, which is why most students love Mr Issac.
Mr. Issac was born in Anaheim, California, but was raised in Orange County. He first learned about Project Kingship through someone he knew who worked there, and after hearing about the program, he soon applied because he had a genuine “passion for working with the youth.” He was hired during the summer, but he didn’t officially begin teaching until October. One of the things he enjoys most about his job is “working with you guys/students” because students constantly make him laugh and smile. Students are able to make him have a fun day at work even when he’s having a bad day. In his office, Mr. Issac uses a technique called “Assertive Practice,” which involves expressing your feelings, thoughts, or needs clearly and respectfully, without putting anyone down. He believes this technique not only helps students communicate better but also builds a more positive and supportive learning environment.
All things considered, Mr Issac is one of the coolest staff members ever! He helps students with their emotions, mental health, and feelings. He is extremely important here at Fitz, and we hope that going forward, more students start realising how fortunate we are to have him at Fitz teaching Project Kingship!
