The AVID Club hosted a movie night on September 21, 2023. The event was hosted in the Fitz MPR. All students were invited, except non-AVID students had to pay $1 for entry. The AVID Movie Night sold items to fundraise money to be used for future scholarly field trips, items, or school events.
This event was exciting because the movie that was being shown was “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.” If you know, you know that Spiderman is popular. Therefore, it was exciting for the students at Fitz to watch. Some students were excited and chose to dress up by wearing Spiderman printed out clothing.
Students enjoyed being around friends and eating snacks while watching the movie. Christian Torres, a seventh grader, was sure enjoying the snacks as he exclaimed, “Oh my goodness! Hot Cheetos!” When I asked, “What is your favorite snack being sold?” Now that's how you know the snacks were the best despite the long lines.
Students came with friends. When Valerie Salmeron was asked, “Who did you come here with?” She responded saying, “My best friend, Isa!” There were groups of friends hanging out while enjoying the movie. People brought blankets and some of their own items to enjoy the movie with friends.
Overall, the movie night was filled with fun and everyone enjoyed it. Everyone got an opportunity to be with their friends and see their favorite movie. It didn’t matter if you were in AVID or not, everyone had a blast!
