What is Fashionable at Fitz?

You open your closet and wonder, what am I going to wear today? Should I wear my Dickies, my cool top I thrifted this weekend, or my super comfortable Pro Club sweater? Well, I’m here to tell you what is in this year at Fitz so you never have to stress over your outfit ever again.

Street brands are very popular at Fitz. A brand that has become very popular in our neighborhood is Pro Club. ”I like Pro Club ‘cause it’s comfortable,” stated an anonymous 8th-grade student. Pro Club is a very popular brand, but it also has sparked a lot of controversy on our campus. Although many Fitz students love this brand, the administration has banned it from our dress code stating, ¨It is for the safety of our students.¨ In fact, the administration has stated this many times, yet students are still upset about this choice. If students aren’t allowed to wear clothing like Pro Club, what else can they choose to wear?

Flared jeans, cropped tops, and wide-leg pants are also popular. An anonymous 7th grader stated, ¨Right now, I think flared jeans, crop tops, and wide-leg pants are in trend.¨ Some stores that sell these clothes are Shein, PacSun, and Hollister. The most popular colors are black, white, and gray. There are many colors but students are enjoying these more. Just like Pro Club, cropped tops are a very suggestive thing at Fitz. Even though students are not allowed to wear cropped tops, they still do and get upset when they get dress-coded. When girls wear crop tops, to cover them, they usually wear sweaters on top of it so that their teachers won’t notice.

Another big fashion trend that has taken over Fitz is pajamas. Most students wear pajamas with cute designs of characters with a plain shirt and some accessories. An anonymous 8th grader said, "Pajamas are just comfortable you know, like it’s just something nice to wear during the day, especially with school." Pajamas are worn by students because they are comfortable. During school, students walk around, doing work and simply putting a lot on their bodies, so cozy clothes are just nice to have. 

Clothing is a big reflection of your personality, especially during your teen years. Kids like to wear clothes that they believe give off their style. Mrs. Ramos, the Student Services office clerk, believes that "Clothing is a form of expression that can give some insight on personality. What you wear or how you wear clothing mostly affects someone’s perceptions of you. What you wear can accentuate, hide or conflict with your personality." For Mrs. Ramos, clothing shows others who you are or who you desire to be. Sometimes this could be negative or positive but either way, it is what you want others to perceive you.

So whether you are wearing baggy jeans or Hello Kitty pajama pants, your clothing always radiates who you are.
