Halloween at Fitz Intermediate was a spooktacular celebration filled with creative costumes, exciting activities, and a sense of community spirit that brought students and staff together in festive fun.
Students showed up to school in a variety of costumes. Some students had costumes of characters from famous movies, video games, and TV shows. A lot of students also wore matching costumes with their friends. A popular costume choice was Alvin and the Chipmunks, where three friends would dress as Alvin, Simon, and Theodore.
ASB set up an exciting costume contest during lunch to show off the many students who wore funny or spooky costumes. There were different categories such as Scariest Costume, Best Duo, Best Makeup, and Overall Best Costume. Each winner was able to receive candy for their costume. One of the winners, 8th grader Leo Perez, had a few things to say about winning the scariest costume. He said, ”It was fun, but I didn’t expect to win. There were so many cool costumes.” Another student, 7th grader Aaliyah Davis who didn’t participate, had a few things to say too. She said, “I didn’t join the costume contest because I was too nervous, but I kinda regret it. I saw a trio dressed as Dora, Boots, and Swiper. I really liked their costumes.” As you can see, the costume contest was a fun and light-hearted competition and even people who didn’t join still enjoyed it just as much.
Some students wanted to share some of the things they like to do during the spooky season like, their favorite traditions, horror films, or their most beloved Halloween candy. An 8th grader, Jazmin Ortega said, “My favorite Halloween candy has to be Hershey's because it is delicious and I love it so much.” Another student in 8th grade, Genesis Garcia, said, "My favorite tradition to do during Halloween is watching horror movies or going to haunted houses."
In conclusion, whether it's the creative costumes, the spooky decorations, or engaging in a costume contest, Halloween at Fitz provides an opportunity for students to bond, have fun, and make lasting memories. This celebration reminds everyone that Halloween is not just about tricks and treats, but also about community, creativity, and the joy of sharing a festive moment with friends and classmates.
