Get to Know Ms. Daniela

Have you heard of the famous Ms.Daniela? Do you wonder who she is? Well, I’m here to introduce her to you!

Ms. Daniela Joined Project Kinship in 2022 after hearing about it from an agency. She’s always wanted to work with an organization that works with kids, which made her even more interested in Project Kingship and its values. As a teen, she struggled with family problems and felt like she didn’t fit in, just like Fitz students, which makes her very happy that she can support kids and that kids like her enough to tell her about the issues. Luna Jimez, an 8th grader, shared: “I love how I can tell Ms. Daniela anything and she’ll always listen to my side and not judge me. [She] instead, tries to help me.” Before Ms. Daniela joined Project Kinship, she worked as a mentor for teens and at a daycare center, which makes her enjoy working with kids and connecting with them. 

Project Kinship is a program about behavioral intervention causes, like fighting, that can lead to suspension, possible expulsion from the school, or involvement in a gang. Project Kinship is expected to help by giving meditation support, counseling, mentoring, and classroom circles. It provides support and training to people impacted by incarceration. Ms. Daniela’s title in Project Kinship is an Intervention Specialist. An Intervention Specialist provides comprehensive educational support to students struggling with academic or social difficulties. Usually, those struggling are found in educational settings such as school, which allows Ms. Daniela to help kids. 

Students have many opinions of Ms. Daniela. For example, Ruby Rosales thinks that Ms. Daniela helps her in many ways. One way Ms. Daniela helps Ruby is by making Ruby think about her future and helping her try even harder in school. Ms. Daniela makes kids who are considered “troubled” feel sane. She makes Ruby feel like she has a safe space. Ms. Daniela is the one person Ruby would like to make proud. Many students have also said that Ms. Daniela is helping them get out of fights or situations that could lead to suspension.  She also thinks of creating a space where kids are comfortable. They feel better about telling her how they feel even for kids that don’t even work with her all the time. She still makes them comfortable enough to be able to talk to her. 

What does Ms. Daniela do out of school? She has a daughter who she enjoys spending time with as well as her cat. She likes doing pilates along with spending time with her family. She enjoys going on long walks. Ms. Daniela also likes to do what we teens do these days. Although she likes to be around her family, she mostly likes relaxing and listening to music. 

Ms. Daniela is a huge part of Fitz Intermediate. We wouldn’t know what to do without her support. Falcons, if you ever feel like you need to talk to someone but don’t know who, Ms. Daniela is available!
