Quarter 3
On January 9, 2024, Fitz Intermediate began Quarter 3. This meant class switches for students, even if it was just the slightest change. The new schedules were distributed during the first period. If your first period changed, you would leave for your new first period; otherwise, you would remain in the same period. Some people enjoyed the changes, while some disliked the switch for various reasons.
There was a specific switch for 7th-grade students. They switched from Science to History or History to Science. 8th graders didn't have to deal with that since they were already enrolled in both periods. 7th-grader Sophia Paulino said, ”The transition was easy for me because my schedule didn't change at all, except from History to Science.” For Sophia, switching one class wasn't that difficult; it was easy.
The third quarter was a fresh start for students. This fresh start gave students the opportunity to meet new people. Sophia Paulino said, “I think it's great that we switched classes because we get to meet new people." Yet, others didn't have the same mindset and disliked their classes. 7th-grader Ashely Masedo stated, “I prefer my old schedule because I had more friends in them,” showing she wouldn't want to talk to anyone new, create new friends, or meet new teachers.
Some students even had a completely new schedule. Take 7th-grader Scarlett Bernal, who stated, “Yes, my classes did change. I now have art as my elective, world history, and I have PE 6th period with a new teacher.” It appears she got an entirely new schedule! Similarly, 7th-grade student Ashley Mesedo stated, “No, I do not like my new schedule.” Seems like her classes may have been fully switched as well.
For the teachers, the switch wasn't a big deal. This may be because they have already experienced it and are just used to it. So it wasn't a main concern.
Overall, the switch had positive and negative opinions.
