Students of Fitz Intermediate should start taking their art class seriously and acknowledge the benefits it has endowed them with.
Students at Fitz Intermediate should take art more seriously because it can help with critical and creative thinking, motivation, and self-confidence. For example, art helps strengthen your critical and creative thinking. It's not only art you use your creativity, in English when writing a story, you have to be creative with your words and storyline to make it sound enjoyable and complete. By immersing themselves in visual art, students can find new perspectives, themes, and ideas. This shows art can have a good effect on students’ academic performance. Moreover, art skills still help in non-art classes, such as mathematics, science, and history. Through art, students can learn how math can be creative, and how art can be analytical. Ms. Gordon, the Fitz Intermediate art teacher, agrees with this statement. She says, “Art is everywhere and it encompasses so much of our lives that it is hard to pin it down to a simple definition. In the most basic form, art is anything that moves your senses in a pleasing way. In my classes, we focus on art in the visual sense. In the visual arts, we strive to create works of art that cause the viewer to connect to them aesthetically. The beautiful thing about art is that it is subjective… as if one person may love it and another won’t. In the visual arts, we constantly strive to make our own art that can make others connect to it.” Ms. Gordon goes on to explain that "Art is important because it is a form of expression. Anyone can express feelings of anxiety, depression, and emotional distress through art rather than words. This is an amazing outlet for those who suffer from mental illness. Art can help by giving a creative outlet to express emotions that may be too hard to verbalize.” As you see, art has its benefits not only on students’ academic performance but their mental health too. hello:3
Another example of why students should take art more seriously is that art helps indicate what their thoughts and feelings are. For instance, art allows students to express their ideas, emotions, and even their perspectives or views through certain creative activities. This is important because It can have a positive effect on students' mental health, behavior, and motivation throughout their lives. It shows us that art can help students express themselves in many artistic ways. A seventh grader named Camila Hernandez agreed with this statement and said, ”When I draw after a long day of school it helps me feel less stressed.” The fact that art shows how powerful of an impact it has on fellow students at Fitz Intermediate. All of this proves how important art is for students.
Some people may disagree that art doesn't help. Some people may believe that art causes high levels of stress and anxiety. For example, a seventh grader named Natalie Mora says, “When I’m in art class, making art seems to pressure me and make me feel the need to finish my drawing or painting quickly.” This is wrong, because when making art the person creating it has a feeling of control and chooses what they want to do with the art piece and this helps to counterbalance the overwhelming feeling of anxiety. Finally, when creating art you can decide how much time and effort you want to put into your creative piece.
Clearly, art has a very good and powerful impact on students, and clearly, students of Fitz Intermediate should continue to put their efforts into their art classes.
