Basketball's Disappointing Season

The Fitz basketball team had a disappointing 2022-2023 season because they did not communicate as a team in their games. The season started with high hopes; it was a chance to see some new players. The team had a lot of confidence before the games started, but after the first game, it was obvious they had a lot of things to work on. 

The basketball team has had many struggles. For example, some players on the team gave up once they were down by 5 or more points. Eddie Ramos said, "One of the reasons why we lost was because we didn't put 100 percent on defense. That's the reason why they scored so much." The Fitz basketball team did win half of their games, but the games that were lost were lost by a significant margin. For example, their first game started well,  but when the other team started making shots, Fitz fell back by 10 points and some players started giving up.  They had to end the game at halftime because of a mercy rule—a mercy rule is when a team is down by 20 or more points. The score was 46 to 15 at halftime. They played the second half, but the points didn't count. 

Not everyone thinks that it was a disappointing season. Coach Caesar said, "The season went well with the time we were given." This shows that Coach Caesar is content with his season this year. He also added, "We scored a lot in the first half of the game, but half of the time we couldn't finish the game." The basketball team did score a lot in the first and second quarters of the game, but once the other team started scoring more, everything went downhill for them.

Despite their losses, the basketball team does have good players. The two players that put the most effort into the season were Frankie Duenas and Daiman Lee. Daiman was the starting point guard and he made a lot of big shots. He is a good passer and had a lot of crafty plays. Frankie, on the other hand, started on the left bench, but as he put more effort into practice, he began to start in more games and score a lot  of points. At one point, Frankie made a game winning three pointer with no time left on the clock. 

As you can see the basketball team struggled this year. They have a lot to work on this year such as more communication. The team next year hopes to improve and have a better season.
