Fitz Basketball Team Is Ready for the New Season

The 2023-2024 Fitz basketball season has started! This year's coach is Mr. Caesar who is part of the BGC staff. The basketball team meets after school on Thursdays and Tuesdays at BGC. There are 16 boys and two girls on the team. 

Fitz students are feeling very confident about this year's basketball games. After two long weeks of tryouts, students are prepared for a new season. An anonymous 8th grader who is also on the team said that he feels “excited and nervous” but thinks they are “going to do good.” As you can tell, many people have very high hopes for this year's basketball season. 

The first couple of games have been going well. An 8th grader said, “It's important because it's our first couple of games and it can show if it's going to be a good season or a bad one.” The start of a season is important because it gives students motivation for the rest of the season.

Basketball is a very important part of any school. A lot of the people who attend these games go to see their siblings or significant other. These games are not only important for the players but also for the students and the coach. These games build the school community by being together with people who all are interested in the same thing, which can help everybody show support for the school. Ms Chin agrees. “School games bring people together, because it's something we can all enjoy together,” she said.

Basketball is a source of entertainment for many students here at Fitz. An anonymous 7th grader said that the reason that she is going to go to the next game is because “I would like to see what the new team is going to do.” Our new team is filled with very talented and devoted players, which is very important for our new basketball team.

This new basketball season is very important for us, not only because it's a fresh start, but also because we have new players which also means new opportunities for our team.
