More students should watch anime! If you have heard of anime but haven’t watched it, you are missing out! Anime is a Japanese manga that got transferred into animation. There are millions of different kinds of anime with different genres.
Even though anime is considered childish by some people, it can teach you important life lessons. For example, hard work can 100% beat talent. In the anime Naruto we have the example of a not so talented person, Naruto, while his rival, Sasuke, is a prodigy. Naruto is a person who works hard and aims to be a better version of himself, while Sasuke takes his talented for granted and trails the path of darkness and revenge. In the last battle, Naruto shows Sasuke that talent is nothing without hard work. The anime teaches that sometimes you’re going to feel like you have no talents, but don’t be afraid to work hard because working hard is also a talent.
Hadassah Langibelik, an 8th grader, said, “Anime has taught me to believe in myself.” Like Langinbelik, there are people who are positively influenced by anime. .
Do you want to learn more about Japanese lifestyle and history? Anime is especially useful in teaching and learning about Japanese culture because it creatively interprets many different aspects of life in Japan — locations and institutions, historical, cultural references, social practices, small things like body language and how they act. “I have watched anime since I got to learn about their Shinto and Japanese culture,” Mr. Martinez said. For many of you who don’t know Shinto is a Japanese religion dating from the early 8th century and incorporating the worship of ancestors and nature spirits and a belief in sacred power (kami) in both animate and inanimate things. It was the state religion of Japan until 1945.
If you don’t like romantic, and lovey-dovey movies, some of these animes might be for you! Jojo Bizarre Adventure, Dragon Ball, Fullmetal Alchemist, Attack on Titan, etc. You can’t tell me that you don’t like fight scenes, any person in their right mind would say yes. Anime like Dragon Ball or Demon Slayer contains hours of nonstop brawling and leveling up as the whole series sets up the tone for the final act. So one can watch anime just for the action sequences they deliver onto the screen. “I started watching anime just because of the fighting scenes, but when I really get into it, I love every part of it,” Matthew Molina, an 8th grader, said. If you are looking for a site to watch anime but can't find one here some recommendations: Netflix, Crunchyroll, Funimation etc..
Anime is way more interesting and has more lessons than is in this one article. So you should go and watch it now!
