Have you been seeing paper darts on the ceilings of every class you walk into? Well, if you have, it is because it has been a viral trend among many different social media platforms, like TikTok.
Since it has been such a huge trend all over the internet, it didn’t take long until students at Fitz found out and started hopping on the trend. Some kids do it, some kids don't. Some like the trend, and some don't like the trend. A student stated, “I don’t really care, and I think they’re cool. It’s a harmless trend.” This shows how the trend has generated mixed student opinions. Some people, like this student, think it's a harmless act of fun, but others think it is a disruptive trend.
Some students don’t understand why teachers think it’s disruptive. “I don’t get why teachers get so mad like bro it's not gonna kill someone,” a student stated. This proves how social media is really getting into these students' heads and making them believe that this trend isn’t that big of a deal after all. Many kids blindly follow the trends on social media without thinking of the consequences.
It might seem harmless, but the paper darts can actually be really annoying for teachers to clean up. Also, every time a person throws one to the roof, the teacher is forced to address the bad behavior while the class laughs, which could get really annoying for the teacher. It also takes the educational time away. For example, one student said, "I make them because it’s funny and my friends do it. But then the teachers always get mad and get me in trouble.” This statement really does prove that the teachers do get mad and are forced to stop class because of the bad behavior.
All things considered, this is a harmless trend because nobody has actually gotten injured yet. Sometimes school can be boring, and some kids just want to do something that doesn't include learning. The darts may be annoying to clean up and might disrupt the class, but there are no major consequences that occur after making and throwing the darts.
