Students Enjoy the Winter Dance

Quarter 3

The Winter Dance took place Thursday, January 25th from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm in the MPR. The dance had a lot of food for students to eat, like chips, hot chocolate, and sodas. They also played music, which all students enjoyed, like Peso Pluma and Ivan Cornejo. Students agree that the dance was an exciting experience.

The dance started at 4:00 pm. Students were lined up outside the cafeteria ready to go in with a blue wristband. There were teachers inside and some students from ASB helping out by selling snacks. They sold Maruchan, chocolates, chips, sodas, and more. Most of the food ASB sold was under five dollars. An anonymous student said, “I liked Maruchan; it was so cheap!”  This shows that the students enjoyed the food that they were selling.

Some students thought that there should have been tables or at least seats inside the MPR. Janelle Martinez, a 7th grader had said, “They should have added tables and chairs because there were a lot of people sitting on the benches, that there was not really any space for the rest of us.” Several students were sitting on the floor and some were standing the whole time because they had nowhere to sit. Maybe they should have had more seats or tables so that the students had areas to sit.

But most importantly, students enjoyed the music that was played.  They played different types of music, songs by Mia, Keyshia Cole, Peso Pluma, Ivan Cornejo, Mac DeMarco, and many more! Many students were singing out loud and even some crying to them. An anonymous 8th grader was excited to share that "many people were singing their lungs out."  This shows that students who had gone to the dance enjoyed the music that the DJs were playing.

The 2023 Winter Dance was an exciting experience. Students enjoyed the food, snacks, and music. After reading this would you attend the next dance?
