The annual Fitz Winter Concert was held on December 10, 2024. The event started at 5 p.m. and ended at 7 p.m. The Winter Concert had many performances organized by Mrs. Hernandez, the Fitz choir teacher, Mr. Ramos, the orchestra, band and drumline teacher, and Ms. Zamora, the baile folklórico instructor.
The Fitz choir sang stunning holiday songs, while the orchestra, band, and drumline delivered amazing performances. The songs that the chorus sang included "Last Christmas," "Arre Borriquito," "Hushabye," "Noel Noel," and "Five Favorite Holiday Songs." The students in these musical electives are quite lucky to be in them. Mrs. Hernandez claims that the best part about chorus was how the students support each other and how the chorus is a community. Mr. Ramos claims that it is cool to see how the orchestra, band, and drumline can be in sync when they perform.
A lot of people had parts of the Winter Concert that they liked most. Bridget Acosta, who performed in the orchestra, claimed that her favorite part of the concert was performing because she found it very fun to look at the audience and to do her best. An anonymous group of 7th-grade girls said that their favorite performances were “Last Christmas,” the band, and the choir. They all mostly liked the performances for the fun, jolly vibe they gave. An anonymous 8th-grade girl said that she liked the orchestra’s performance because she liked the melody and beat. Like Bridget Acosta, Marnie Nguyen claimed that her favorite part of the concert was performing: “I liked the part where I performed because it was very fun, and it felt like our time to shine.” It must have been quite stressful for some of the performers, though. An anonymous 7th-grade girl from choir claimed, “I was very scared because I was being watched. I felt very overwhelmed with emotions.”
A variety of food was sold at the concert. There were Ramen noodles, tamales, and Mexican-styled hot chocolate. Each type of food sold had its own unique taste that made it delicious. And the sales will help the school be able to host other school events. A couple of students had their favorite foods from the concert. An anonymous 7th-grade girl claimed that her favorite food sold at the concert was the Uncrustables. An anonymous 8th-grade boy said that he liked to eat the tamales most because he finds them really good.
All in all, we can see how and why students enjoy and like to come to the Winter Concert. It is clearly a very successful tradition and event.
