Every year a new group of students is welcomed to Fitz Intermediate Language Academy. So, how much do the 7th graders feel about 7th grade so far? What do they feel? Do they hate it? Do they enjoy it, or are they in between, and why? Just imagine yourself, on your first day of intermediate school, and the first thing you see is a red carpet on the ground and adults cheering for everyone, cheering and giggling everywhere! Nervously you walk on the carpet. That’s how the first day of school began for the 7th graders; but what do they think about it?
Many students agree that school is going great for them. A 7th grader named Joselyn Merida said, “I feel like Fitz is overall a wonderful school. I really like how the staff and the school are very helpful and kind, it really makes the school better. I also like that the students are really kind.” This shows that the school experience at Fitz's is going great for a lot of students. Another student named Mayra Campos agrees; Mayra claims that she enjoys drawing, reading, writing, and taking notes. , Fitz Intermediate is going well for those who just entered; there are many new experiences for the students, people to meet, and a new schedule. As you can see, a fair amount are enjoying school.
Teachers agree that school is going great for the new seventh graders. For example, the history teacher, Mrs. Bullis says, “I am enjoying the new 7th graders. I have had a great teaching experience so far. Most scholars have tried to start work even though they might not know exactly what to do. We have a very fast pace in world history, so we have to finish assignments quickly. Most are keeping up with the quick pace.” This is important because it shows that the 7th graders are getting used to this new change. It shows us that they are very good at shifting to this new school. Another teacher, Mrs. Hudson, who teaches English Language Arts concurs with Mrs. Bullis. She claims that, “I think the students are exceptionally bright this year. I am impressed by their work ethic and by their ability to concentrate and to work hard in class!” The fact that these professional teachers, who have been here at Fitz Intermediate for a while, show that they are doing an excellent job. All of this proves that 7th graders are doing amazing for the first time in middle school.
Not everyone agrees that their experience is going perfectly. Teachers have had a few setbacks. Although Mrs. Hudson said that she enjoys the 7th graders, she has a problem with them. She says, “My only setback has been a few kids who use their computers in my class to go to sites and play games.” Although she has a few setbacks with them, they are lively. In addition, Mrs. Bullis responded with, “We are taking a study guide/ vocabulary home to look at overnight. Getting students to do this is a slow process.” For these reasons, not everything is going perfectly.
All things considered, the 7th graders are adjusting to a new school, routine, and new people. Stuff like this can be hard for specific students, going to a new school; only knowing your classmates. 7th grade opens new accomplishments. There are many students in middle school which results in meeting new people. They are doing an amazing job keeping up.
