On Falcon Focus Mondays, the whole school gets an update about events that have happened or are happening through a video. You may wonder who makes those videos or even how. Well, the journalism team makes them, and today you get to learn all about it!
First, Mrs. Weirich chooses two anchors and a reporter every week. Then, we prepare to film. Filming can be difficult because of what it requires, but you also get to have so much fun! For example, it’s hard because you have to sit up straight, look at the camera while trying to keep up with the teleprompter, not stutter, and smile. If you ask Quinn Hopper, one of the journalism students, she says, ”Personally, the hardest part is sitting up straight because I have bad posture,” which shows how filming can be hard sometimes.
Then, after preparing yourself for filming, you can start! A lot of people get nervous during this part because they're nervous about how they will look on camera. For example, “I do get very nervous because I don't want to mess up or look funny on camera," says Juliet Cepeda. Well, that's where Mrs. Weirich helps out! Once you're done filming, Mrs. Weirich edits the video over the weekend, so you don't have to worry about any of the mistakes you made during the filming.
Some may agree that the easiest part of all the filming is seeing yourself on Monday morning! The whole school sees all the hard work that you put into that video, and you get to see the whole video come together after the editing. For some, the best part is the result. Jocelyn Romero agrees with this statement. She says, “The best part is seeing myself on camera!” This shows how awesome it is to be on camera!
