Halloween is the spookiest time of the year. It is a time of year when students get to wear their costumes at school and enjoy it with friends, and that’s exactly what Fitz students did! On Tuesday, October 31, Fitz Intermediate students participated in Spirit Week by wearing their festive Halloween costumes.
Students at Fitz wore different types of costumes, like inflatable costumes, group costumes, and even character costumes. It was entertaining seeing all the creative costumes. Personally, my favorite costume that I saw was the inflatable Garfield that was worn by Magdelena Nunez. Overall, all the costumes were amazing and so fun seeing. When I asked Scarlett Soberanis what she was for Halloween, she responded with “Chucky.” Soberanis' costume as Chucky was very creative. She used face paint to make fake scars, which I thought was creative. When asked why she participated, Soberanis said, “Yes, I participated because I thought it would be fun.” Overall, Soberanis had a great time participating and I am sure many others did as well.
Fitz students enjoyed the Halloween Costume Contest at lunch. The contest was entertaining and fun to see. It was astounding seeing others cheer for their friends to win the contest. Two Journalism students, Yen Nguyen and Allyson Terrones, won the contest by dressing up as Drizzy Drake. Nguyen and Terrones’ victory showcases Fitz’s talent for contests and student engagement.
Some, however, did not participate. Those who didn’t participate chose not to because they thought nobody was going to participate and it was silly to wear a costume. An anonymous 7th grader said, “I didn't participate because I didn't have time and it would be embarrassing.” But they were obviously wrong judging from the amount of students who did participate.
BGC also celebrated Halloween. After school, BGC students did a candy hunt and picked up candy from the ground. The students who don't attend BGC. Julieta Calvino said, “It was fine and I loved looking for candy.” So BGC did have a blast looking for their treats.
Overall, all students enjoyed the festive holiday. Well, I can't wait till next year's spooky season!
