On Thursday, September 18th, Fitz held its first event (other than Back to School Night) of the year, the Splash Party! This event was planned by ASB, and it was held under the solar panels. There was a $5 entry fee, and you had to bring your signed permission slip to enter. And ASB handed you a sponge upon entry. Students put their belongings in the PE locker rooms and changed into their PE clothes, then were able to go outside and have fun. This event is a fan favorite because of the stress-relieving activities, such as splashing your friends with water and running around! There were buckets of water, sponges to splash people with, a splash pad, and ASB was selling food. The Splash Party brought nothing but joy and laughter to students’ faces and was a beautifully planned event.
The Splash Party is especially famous because it permits students to splash each other with water as much as they want without punishment and make lifelong memories. There were buckets of water everywhere and a splash pad spraying water. At the end of the event, students got a hose and sprayed each other with it. There was mud everywhere, but students didn’t seem to mind. They were just too busy having a good time. Ms. Chin, who is the ASB teacher, said she would recommend the Splash Party to other students because “It is one of the best events and you get to splash your friend and run wild!” There were groups of friends running around, splashing each other, and other kids sitting down chatting. Everyone was having a good time, and there wasn’t a single person with a frown on their face. Seventh grader Jacob Doan said, “My favorite part of the Splash Party was hanging out with my friends and splashing them with water.” Students were sneaking up on each other and spraying each other with water, and it was a joy to hear their betrayed but amused laughter as they sought revenge. Eighth grader Liliana Nunez was especially enjoying sneaking up on her friends and splashing them. She said, “My favorite part of the Splash Party was coming up from behind my friends and squeezing the water out of the sponge on them.” Sneaking up on friends to splash them was definitely one of the most memorable and fun parts of the Splash Party.
The Splash Party was organized by ASB, who sold chips and paletas, and other food. Haily Wagoner, who is the ASB vice president, says the Splash party is special because “You get to make fun memories in the water. Also, you get to buy good food like cups of noodles, chips, and paletas.” Travel Club was also selling things such as pizza and soda to fundraise for their DC trip! Although the event was organized beautifully, there is always room for improvement. Eighth grader Katelinh Voung-Moroy said the event was organized great, but one thing she would add is tables so that students can enjoy their food and not have to sit on the floor or eat standing up. Liliana Nunez said, “Something that can be improved about the Splash Party is selling towels. Also, having more buckets filled with water would be nice because we ran out fast. Finally, we should have inflatable water slides.” These ideas are great! Lots of students had to change into their normal clothes as their PE clothes were soaking wet. Selling towels would really help students dry off and solve the problem of having to change into their normal clothes, soaking wet. Having more buckets would also be useful because students were pouring the contents of the bucket on each other’s heads, and they had to refill the buckets many times.
To conclude, the Splash Party was an amazing event where students were able to splash each other, eat yummy food, and make lifelong memories with their friends. Kids were bonding by splashing each other with water, and it was truly a beautiful experience that every student should experience. Although there are always things we can add to improve, ASB planned this event wonderfully and students had a blast.
