Can AI Technology Be Helpful?

Many people are getting concerned about the advances in technology due to the new features. Now that AI is getting better, you’re able to create AI-generated pictures, you can edit photos, and you can even create art with AI! But the real question is, will AI be a problem to the education system?

For now, the things you’re able to do with AI aren’t a problem, but within a few years this may change. As the years go by, technology will always be advancing, so this may be a future concern to educators. Some AI’s are already able to solve math problems and even write essays. Mrs. Gunderson thinks that the improvements in AI will cause teachers to ban writing on a computer during tests to prevent students from using AI to write their essays. She also says there will be a bigger demand on writing paper because she believes that it’ll be the only way to measure students’ writing skills. This would mean that everyone would have to revert back to writing on paper like back then.

Although AI can be beneficial, AI will also have its downsides. For example, Mr. Dishong says, “AI can do a great job assisting us with lots of basic tasks in life, but I am concerned this could mean the loss of more simple entry level jobs in customer service and other areas.” This means that AI can help us with basic and simple things, but many people who work in customer service, like a cashier, may lose their jobs. This can already be seen in self checkout lanes where you scan the items yourself and use a screen to pay. 

Recently, there has been a new AI generator which can even create videos! This AI video generator can create anything as long as you put in a prompt. Many people have been concerned about this AI video generator because this could get out of hand and could even frame people for things they haven’t done. For example, when this generator gets more advanced, there’s a chance that it’ll be able to recognize people and create videos of people stealing or committing other crimes. Some artists are worried that the AI will eventually be able to create speedpaints, so there would be no way to prove if someone drew something or if they used AI.

Could this be bad though? In my opinion, AI can be a problem in the future when it gets more advanced. It can be a problem because it can change how every job will be like in the future. For example, cashiers can be replaced with robots or touchscreen devices which can make people lose jobs. In some restaurants, there are robots that can move around with trays on their back that carry items like drinks or food.
