Fitz Intermediate hosted its annual Halloween Costume Contest. It’s one of the most popular events of the year. Fitz’s students were allowed to dress up in costumes of their choice. Many teachers also dressed for the occasion!
Costumes are the most popular part of Halloween—they give insight into who the person is and what they enjoy. That’s why Fitz’s ASB hosts a yearly costume contest! The contest lets students determine their favorite costumes among the dozens on display. There were a few categories: the funniest costume, the most creative, the scariest, and the best overall. Many people took part in the costume contest, but only one costume could win per category. The competition was tough—there were so many expressive costumes to choose from! To find the best costume, there was trial and error. They looked through many different costumes to finally settle on their favorite one.
8th-grade Delilah Aguilar looked for something simple– not to stand out. She said, “I was Trixy from Subway Surfers. It was simple, and I saw it on Pinterest.” Some students decided not to dress up because Halloween had a downfall. 8th-grade Ayden Orozco said, “I couldn’t find a costume because I was too lazy to get one. Halloween fell off.”
The event was hosted near Falcon’s Nest, where contesters stood in line. One of the most popular candidates was Luna Ruelas, who was dressed as Rumi from the movie K-Pop Demon Hunters. 8th-grade Sarah Lee had a strong opinion about her favorite costume. She said, “Marianna, she had that stick thing... Oh! And a belly, and she was accurate and laughing a lot.” Another student, 7th-grade Favian Vargas, thought otherwise. He said, “Ramses had the best costume. He was the ‘Up’ house, and it was creative.” There were many mixed opinions on who had the best costume. But in the end, the winners for each category were Marianna Kimberly for Best Costume and Ramses for Most Creative.
Overall, Fitz’s Yearly Halloween celebration stands as one of the best and most active days of the school year! Full of laughter, smiles, and sweet treats for all! Will you be celebrating next year?
