Fitz Intermediate has had many fundraisers this year, and you may be wondering what the school uses the funds for. The money ASB raises is used for every school activity, such as dances, contests, games, and, more importantly, 8th-grade commencement.
Although ASB does raise a lot of money, they usually never have any money left. If they do, they save the funds for next year. The ASB teacher, Ms. Trujillo, says that most of the money goes to the students. She says, “The badges for just the 8th graders is about $5,000 and we raise around $8,000 yearly.” This shows how the money that is raised is very important for the school because without the money ASB raises, there wouldn’t be any badges for the 8th graders.
Students have mixed feelings about the costs associated with ASB activities. An anonymous 8th grader from ASB says, “Students are always complaining to us about the prices of everything.” This shows that students want the parties and the activities to be cheap. However, they also want them to be fun; therefore, the price has to be “expensive” because the money that is raised is put into the same dances and activities that students want.
As you can see, ASB is the heart of the school because verything that happens happens because ASB holds fundraisers for the activities the students want and enjoy.
