Fitz Should Allow Phones Again

Fitz should allow phones again! Phones aren't allowed at Fitz and students don’t like that. Many believe they should be allowed with rules.

Phones are a big part of everyone's everyday lives, but students aren't allowed to use them during school hours. Many believe that they should be added back with rules. “One reason phones were taken away was because students were posting things they weren't supposed to during class,” Ms. Gunderson stated. Students should not take photos during class time. But why not allow students to use their phones outside of class? The school could allow students to use their phones during passing periods and while waiting to enter their class, but once students enter the class, students can put the phones away so they can’t take pictures of classmates or teachers when they aren't supposed to.

Students should be allowed to use their phones during lunch because it’s their free time. If students use phones appropriately, there should not be a problem. The supervisors and principal can check while students are using their phones to make sure they aren't using them in an inappropriate manner or watching inappropriate things. If they do catch a student watching something inappropriate, they should tell them they can't use their phones for the rest of the day or week. One anonymous student said, “I think phones should be allowed during free time but definitely not during class.” This is a good way for students to be able to use their phones.

Phones are confiscated for a reason. Many students post inappropriate things that happen at school on social media. Students sometimes start drama on social media, and students often like to pull out their phones to record inappropriate things, which can add more fuel to the fire because they can send the videos to other people and those people can post the videos on social media. However, not all students abuse phones. So, students should still be allowed to use their phones, but if a student is caught misusing a phone, it should be confiscated.

Fitz should definitely let students use their phones on campus. With rules there should be no reasons why students can't use their phones.
