BGC has chosen the 2025-2026 new soccer team; tryouts were held by Mr. Caesar, and over 50 kids showed up, but only 26 made it.
The BGC soccer coach, Mr. Caesar, held tryouts after school from 3:30 to 4:45 on the 18th and 20th of September. During the soccer team tryouts, the students had to go through intense drills to see what level they were at. They started with the basic stuff, like dribbling and passing, and moved on to more difficult drills. Most of the players on the team currently play soccer out of school and are determined to win this year.
Mr. Ceaser has been the Fitz soccer coach for two years. He also coaches other sports here at Fitz, like the basketball team. Mr. Ceaser has been working at Fitz for about four years now. What he enjoys most about coaching the soccer team is “Watching students develop their skills and chemistry.” His goal for this year's soccer team is “To create a space for the kids to feel comfortable and develop, and hopefully to win.” Mr. Cesar definitely has high hopes for this year's 2026 soccer team.
Most of the players on the soccer team have lots of experience. Aaron Esparza, a seventh-grade player, says his favorite part of playing on the team is “Getting soccer flicks and playing with my friends.” He also explains when he started to play soccer: “I started playing at three in AYSO, then moved to club when I was seven.” Most of the players on the team have lots of experience playing outside of school. Another player, Mason Boone, says when he started to love the sport: “When I was five, because my mom used to play in high school.” He also says his favorite professional soccer team is “Barcelona because I grew up watching it with my grandma.”Dominic Baksic, an attacker on the team, says, “I play center attacking mid because I like to assist.” He also says that his favorite player of all time is “Messi because he is the greatest of all time and has amazing assists." You can see the Fitz soccer team has a lot of experience!
So far, Fitz has played two games there first game was 3-0 to Jordan, and their second game was 0-0, but we won on penalties 4-2 to Irvine. We're so excited about this year's soccer team. We're hoping for lots of wins this school year!
