At Fitz Intermediate, there are many different types of clubs, but never once has Fitz offered a Scripture Club, until recently. The Scripture Club was created by 8th grader Victoria Ruiz. But what is Scripture Club about? And why did it start?
The club was created by Victoria Ruiz in the beginning of October, 2025. Victoria claims that she created the club because “God called me to it, summer camp in July. I didn’t want to do it, but it matches with what I want to do in my life, which is public speaking.” This shows how amazing it is when students can accomplish whatever they set their minds to. The club is held in Room 35 with Mrs. Hudson, who is the room advisor. Mrs. Hudson feels very happy to help Victoria with the club, as it is a fun way for students (and teachers) to have their lunch period, and it is something that people normally wouldn’t ask for her help with. She claimed, “I love it. And never in 32 years has anyone asked me to host a Scripture Club for them. It’s a very relaxing lunch hour. I was very happy about it starting because I think it can help people.”
Every Scripture Club meeting has a planned structure to keep meetings running smoothly and easily. How the Scripture Club works is that a lesson with a phrase from the Bible is used, and it is taught to the students attending the club. At the end of the club, they all play a fun game as a great way to end it off. Well, Victoria states, “I plan a lesson sometimes during the week. Sometimes, Wednesday night, when I’m freaking out. If anyone wants to come in or be invited, they can. And near the end of the lunch period, we play an icebreaker game. My lessons are about the people we can become in Christ.” This is a really fun way for any students who want to have a Thursday lunch activity; they can just stop by room 35 with their lunch and enjoy the club and have a good time with the other members as well.
Everyone who attends the club seems to really enjoy it. It has an average of 20-30 students attending the meetings every week. An anonymous club member states that what they find fun about Scripture club is, “EVERYTHING! Something I found fun was the games, and especially when I learn phrases from the Bible. Also seeing my friends.” Another club attendee said what they enjoyed about the club is, “I find it fun how Victoria talks about the Bible. It’s beautiful, and the other activities as well.” This shows how fun the students find the club, and how it was such an amazing idea for a club.
Scripture Club is an awesome and fun place to attend if you want something different and new to experience during your lunch hour. Feel free to stop by room 35 every Thursday for lunch!
