Have you ever wondered what you can do after school? Do you have a lot of energy to burn? The Boys and Girls Club at Fitz Intermediate has sports you can participate in.
Let’s talk about the Fitz basketball team. The coaches for basketball are Mr. Cesar and Mrs. Olivia. They did not do so well during their first basketball game of the season because Fitz lost by 30 points, but it’s because they need to have more than one game. However, they are not going to give up—Fitz is going to keep trying. The score of Fitz’s last game was 3-38 against Jordan Intermediate. It is sad. Fitz still has work to do. The player who received the man of the match for Fitz was Andy. During the second half of the game against Jordan, Andy led the Falcons in points, but it was still a tough matchup for Fitz. Fitz will need to practice more.
Fitz’s second and last sport they have at the Boys and Girls Club is soccer. The coach for their soccer team is Mr. Cesar. So far, it seems like soccer is Fitz’s strong side because they have not lost one match. The last/first game they played was against McGarvin and Fitz did such an amazing job that the referees had to end the game early. The final score was 6-0 making Fitz undefeated. The man of the match for Fitz was Nelson Felipe. After Fitz’s first game was canceled due to the heat, Fitz came prepared for the match against McGarvin. Fitz attacked most of the first half with great passing, and Nelson Felipe would be there to finish some of the plays with two goals. Even though McGarvin stayed with Fitz for most of the first half, Fitz came out with the win.
Those are the only sports Boys and Girls Club has to offer for now, but in the fall they will have volleyball and flag football for any gender. Last year, their flag football team went undefeated making them go to the championship but then lost to Lake Intermediate 45-28. Their volleyball team also did an amazing job, like their flag football team, making it to the championship game while being undefeated but then losing to McGarvin 4-2.
So just remember that if you are bored or have a lot of energy to burn make sure you check out Boys and Girls Club for more fun curricular activities.
