Students are usually very timid about their singing voices. They will sing everywhere, but when they have an audience, they won't say anything. But Dr. Hernandez, the Fitz choir teacher, makes students feel confident and encourages them to sing. Dr. Hernandez teaches the 5th-period Vocal Ensemble and the 6th-period Treble Chorus at Fitz Intermediate.
Fitz students love Dr. Hernandez’ choir class. Students love her class because she is always uplifting and encouraging them to sing. An anonymous 7th grader says, “I like choir because I love to sing and I get to hang out with my friends.” Choir isn't just a class, it's a place where students can hang out with their friends and sing with all of the other students. Students who are in choir usually warm up with Dr. Hernandez and then rehearse the songs that they are working on for their winter and spring shows.
Dr. Hernandez loves watching her students grow. “Seeing my students grow as singers and people and seeing how they use singing every day is just amazing to me,” said Dr. Hernandez. Students in the choir enjoy it. Dr. Hernandez’s recipe for success is that she “tell[s] them that they should be the best they can be and challenge them to grow.” Dr. Hernandez enjoys watching her students grow as singers and individuals, encouraging them to be their best in choir.
Choir comes with many special opportunities. One of our other teachers, Maestra Zamora, stated, “I think that choir is such a great place. It also brings great opportunities.” She also said, “Ms. Hernandez is also such an amazing teacher and helps them with their singing voices.”
So if you are timid about your singing voice but still love to sing, join Dr. Hernandez's choir class. She will calm all your worries about singing and you’ll have fun!
