Roberto barrera

Roberto Barrera is a senior at Covina High School and has been at Covina all four years. At the Vermilion he works as one of the social media managers for the website. He is an avid fisherman and outdoor enthusiast and enjoys things like hiking and mountain biking. His plans for the future are to either attend Montana State University or Northern Arizona University. He also likes to play video games in his spare time, his favorite being the street fighter series. His favorite food is Italian specifically alfredo. He is also a part of the boys tennis team.

Jade Bell

Jade Bell is a sophomore at Covina High school. She’s 15 and was born on August 14th, 2006. She likes to swim, paint, and listen to music. She loves music and it plays a big part in her life. She likes to be with her pets and friends in her free time. She wants to graduate high school and go to a cosmetology school and maybe later go to a fashion school.

Ameer Blackshaw

Ameer Blackshaw is a junior at Covina High School. Born on March 3rd, 2004, Ameer’s favorite school subject is US history. His favorite musical artist is Kanye West but still enjoys various music genres, although he does not have a favorite sport, his favorite sports teams are the Lakers, Dodgers, and Broncos. When Ameer graduates from high school, he wants to go to a four year university, to major in education and history. He hopes to become a history teacher and later move on to an administrative position.

Rebecca Brewster

Rebecca Brewster is a senior at Covina High School. This year she is working on entertainment content for the Vermilion. Her hobbies include playing the guitar, video games, and writing. She is also interested in literature and music, both of which play a big role in her life. After high school her goals are to pursue a career in software engineering. Although not an easy task, she also hopes to buy an indie gaming company to expand in the future.

Alexis Calderon

Alexis Calderon is a senior at Covina High School. She was born on November 15, 2004. Alexis has a pet dog named "Fluffy." Alexis's favorite colors are black, red, and pink. Alexis enjoys painting, spending time outside, doing makeup, watching Netflix, and coloring. In the future, Alexis plans to go to the Maldives because it reminds her of Fiji and she loves tropical places. After high school, Alexis plans on going to cosmetology school to hopefully have her own salon.

Devin castello

Devin Castellon is a 12th grade student at Covina High School. He is going to create content for the Vermillion. Devin likes to skate, play video games and hang out with friends. He keeps active through pole vault training for track and field. He enjoys older music like 90s rap or 70s rock, such as Westside Connection or Pink Floyd. Devin got recommended to journalism from a friend, this is his 1st year. He plans to go into psychology to become a therapist in the future.

Adrian Castro

Adrian Castro works at the Vermillion where he works on articles and gives feedback on different sports games. Adrian currently is in his junior year of Covina High School. Adrian loves to work out and play many different sports. He loves challenging himself in his free time by doing various activities. Those activities include learning new workout variations, reaching goals he set out through the day, and learning new dance moves. Adrian has no idea what college to go to yet but has his mindset on obtaining a kinesiology degree which would allow him to be a fitness trainer in the future. This will bring him one step closer to becoming a fitness influencer and achieve his dream of opening up a gym.

SUmmer Ceballos

Summer Ceballos is currently a senior at Covina High School. She is involved in many clubs and extracurricular activities, some of which include Key Club, Interact, and CSF. Her interests include making art and playing tennis, something she has been able to do here at Covina. Summer is now a four-year member of Covina’s art program and girls tennis team. In the future, Summer hopes to attend a California State University for 2 years and then transfer to a UC.

Emily Chavez

Emily is a senior at Covina high school. She was born on August 9, 2004, her favorite school subject is math. Her favorite music artist is Eminem. Her favorite sport to do after school is marching band. her favorite sport is Lakers and la rams. After she is done with school she is going to Mt. SAC college or Cal Poly. Her favorite hobby is skateboarding. She does entertainment content.

edward Cobian

Edward Cobian is 17 years old and is in 12th grade. This is his first time taking Journalism, and he wants to get the most out of it. He will be putting out interesting content that you won't want to miss. Some of his hobbies include camping, enjoying nature, gaming, and watching Star Wars. Some of his favorite places to camp are Mammoth Lakes, Anza Borrego, and Death Valley. After high school he plans to major in Architecture and possibly minor in psychology. Although he doesn’t have a specific path set he knows his future will be bright.

Julianna Cortez

Julianna is a senior, class of 2022, at Covina High School. This is her first year in Journalism and she is excited for what the class has to offer. Her hobbies include listening to music, spending time with her family, and rewatching her favorite TV shows. Julianna has a great love for the Fall season because of her favorite holiday, Halloween, and the cold weather that comes with it. In the future, she plans to take a year off after high school to gather enough money for college. She is planning to go into the animal field and become a wildlife rehabilitator as her dream job. Ever since she saw those ASPCA and wildlife commercials as a kid, she has always had the thought “I need to help” in the back of her mind for years.

Jared Dela Cruz

Jared Dela Cruz is a junior at Covina High School. Jared, born on January 20, 2005, in West Covina, works on entertainment content in journalism. His interests include skateboarding, fashion, watching movies, and spending time with his friends. He loves making edits of his skateboarding videos and just content creating in general. Some artists he enjoys are Lil Uzi Vert, Tyler The Creator, Kanye West, and many more including different genres. After high school, he would like to be in the entertainment industry one way or another. Either still making skateboard videos by collaborating with big brands, being in movies and tv, or even creating his own content.

Kyrene Do

Kyrene Do is an artist and designer at the Vermilion. She is a freshman and plays video games, creates artwork, and plays tennis. If she had to choose her dream career today it would be to pursue fashion and work as a fashion designer.

Alexis Fallejo

Alexis Fallejo is a freshman in Covina high school. She enjoys running cross-country, playing video games, and hanging out with her friends. In the future, she hopes to work as a pilot or a flight attendant. After high school, Alexis plans to spend her 4 years in college or as much needed to be a part of the airline industry. Alexis loves the wintertime because of the weather and because of winter break. Her favorite holidays are Christmas and Easter. Alexis was interested in journalism since 7th grade but wasn’t able to get the elective, but now she finally got it.

Ethan Franklin is a senior at Covina High School. He works on entertainment content for Vermilion. His interests include athletics, computers, and business management. He enjoys playing video games, running, and biking with friends. He enjoys himself most when with friends and likes to experience new things. He’s very competitive in certain things. He plans to attend a four-year university close to home. He’s not settled on what to major in yet, but hopes to be successful in whatever it is.

Lauren Garcia

Lauren Garcia is 17 years old and a senior. She is interested in modeling, fashion, music, and traveling. She likes to hang out with friends and go out to different places. After she graduates high school she wants to go to Cal Poly Pomona and then transfer to FIDM. She wants to get her degree in fashion merchandising and be in the fashion industry. She also plans to be very successful in what she does.

Isabelle Gonzales

Isabelle Gonzales is a 14 year old freshman here at Covina High School. Some of her favorite things to do in her free time include listening to music, going on road trips, being with family, making jewelry, and shopping. She also likes going to amusement parks and baseball games. She is a HUGE Dodgers fan. In her future, Isabelle hopes to become a photographer and attend UCLA. She strives to be very successful later on in her life.

Jonathan, 17 year old senior, is a social media manager for the Covina High School Vermilion website. His interests are watching movies and sports, and making designs for clothing brand. Jonathan plans on doing something in the business/marketing world.

Julia Gutierrez

Julia Gutierrez promotes on social media for the Vermillion. She is a sophomore and 15 years old. Her hobbies include reading, making small clay sculptures, which she’s not very good at, and painting which she is also not talented in, but enjoys doing it nonetheless. After Highschool she wants to attend a four-year college. She is very interested in psychology and hopes to pursue a career in forensic psychology sometime in the future.

Emanuel Hermosillo

Emanuel Hermosillo is a freshman this year at Covina high school. His hobbies include video games, doing math, and trying to think out of the box. During the 18 months in isolation Netflix and Hulu, as well as Disney+ all became sort of a hobby, and since he has watched so many shows and movies. He will write reviews about tv shows and movies for the Vermillion. Journalism might become a side hobby as well. In the future, he would like to either become an engineer or a high-tech mechanic.

Ricardo Hernandez

Ricardo Hernandez is a junior at Covina High School. He is a 16 years old and was born on July 28, 2005. His major interest are snowboarding, playing soccer, and most frequently listening to music. He also enjoys hanging out with his friends. He hopes he could finish the school year with a 3.0 GPA or higher. In the future, he wants to be an entrepreneur or a real estate agent.

Araceli Marquez

Araceli Marquez is a senior at Covina High School. She enrolled in journalism for her profound interest in writing. While working at the Vermillion Araceli aspires to aid the functionality of the website by being the web manager. Outside of school Araceli dances with a studio. When she has free time Araceli enjoys painting, reading, and baking. In the future, she hopes to become a Physical Therapist and aid the rehabilitation of athletes.

Anthony Naseiro

Anthony Naseiro is a senior at Covina high school and will be working on news articles for the Vermilion website. Anthony is interested in many things such as world politics, history, and wildlife. He has many hobbies which include lifting weights with friends, mountain biking, hiking, video games and wrestling although wrestling is more of a lifestyle for him. At home Anthony is a father of four pets. A dog named Lucy, a bearded dragon named Ruby, a parakeet named Paco, and a cat named Chinitha. After high school Anthony would like to attend college and major in Astronomy. His life long goal is to become an entrepreneur and to take care of his loved ones.

Kortney Nguyen

Kortney Nguyen is a freshman at Covina High School, working on helping promote new things in the journalism class puts out o n the school's social medias. She is currently in ASB. Her number one favorite subject in school would have to be English. Kortney finds writing calming, a way for her to let out some of her feelings into a story, or a way to pass the time. She also really loves cats, so much that she has a large sticker collection pertaining to cats. Later in the future, Kortney would like to attend a good college or university to pursue her dream of having a job in the medical field.

Titilola Opanubi

Titilola Opanubi is a 14-year-old freshman at Covina High School. In Journalism, she helps promote the website on social media platforms. She is also a member of ASB. She enjoys editing shows and movies in her free time. A goal she would like to achieve this year is to have a 3.5 GPA. Some other things she does are bake, read, and play games on her phone. In the future, she would like to be an investment banker.

breanna Payne

Breanna Payne works on Covina news and is a senior at Covina High School. She was born on October 7th, 2004 in Whittier. Her hobbies include playing softball, hanging out with friends, and going on hikes with her family. During Breanna's free time when she is not at practice, she likes to draw as well as wacth Grey's Anatomy, Criminal Minds, and All American. After graduating from Covina High School, Breanna plans to attend a community college then transfer to a four year college when she wants to major in kinesiology and counting playing softball.

Sean potter

Sean Potter is a senior at Covina High School. He was born on April 28, 2004, in West Covina, California. Sean’s hobbies include playing and watching football, working out, and playing video games. He enjoys most music genres but hip hop is his favorite. Sean is a part of the football team, track team, and Ping Pong Club. After high school, he plans to travel the world and become an Air Traffic Controller.

Giselle Preciado

Giselle Preciado is a junior at Covina High School. She has multiple interests like swimming, listening to music, and baking. She also loves animals and going to the beach during the summer. her goal is to graduate high school with a 3.8 GPA or higher. Her future plans are to go to college and become a dermatologist.

Jazlyn Sabori

Jazlyn Sabori was born on November 11, 2003. Jazlyn is a senior and was born in California but moved to Oregon in 2008. She likes to paint and play video games while listening to music. Her favorite food is tacos and her favorite dessert is brownies. Jazlyn's dream vacation is going to a mountain full of trees and nature surrounding her while bits of snow fall from the sky. After school Jazlyn is planning to go to Mount SAC to study to become a Therapist. Jazlyn wants to be a Therapist after college so she can help the people/children around her who are struggling.

Jeremiah Silva

Jeremiah is a reporter and a freshman. He was born on April 20, 2007, in West Covina. His favorite subject is history and reading. He is also an avid hiker and outdoorsman and is part of the baseball team. When he isn’t doing any of that he’s playing video games. He wishes to become an actor and join the military.

Samuel Singleton

Imagine two rocks balanced on top of each other on a hill. Imperfect, asymmetrical, yet perfectly balanced. Sitting in the still air effortlessly, the scene absent of wind. Now forget all that and look at this freshman guy, who even is that? Sam started attending CHS two days ago (as of 8/18/21,) and is waiting for something big to focus on. His free time at home is spent animating, coding, or playing video games. As for that “big thing,” he’s hoping journalism can take the cake before anything else does, because it’d kinda suck if he had an extra class that he wasn’t invested in. Then again, that’s his problem anyway, nobody cares about that. Born on December 28th, 2006, he hopes that he can change something for the better in his world, preferably before that big December date hits. Until then, he’s gonna ride out the wave and have a good time, since he’s not going anywhere.

Noah Sinpoonpak

Noah Sinpoonpak is a senior at Covina High School. He is currently 16 years old and he was born on October 17th, 2004. Some of his interests include anime, volleyball, and pole vaulting. His favorite foods are fried chicken and french fries. He hopes to go to college to major in finance to learn more about managing his financial situation and other people’s financial situation. He also hopes to have a good pole vault season this year with the prospects of vaulting in college.

Vanessa Villegas

Vanessa Villegas is a senior at Covina High School. She was born on January 18, 2004. Im her freetime, she loves to swim, watch Netflix, and hang out with friends. She listens to music 24/7 and loves every genre except country. After high school, she plans on attending a four year university. She joined Journalism because she's always been a strong writer and video editor and is trying to decide if it's a career she would like to pursue.

Sophia Woodson

Sophia Woodson was born on January 28th and is currently a junior at Covina High School. She enrolled in Digital Journalism during her freshman year to fulfill her love for all forms of writing. outside of writing, Sophia's hobbies include drawing, making jewelry she'll never wear, and watching all things animated. Her favorite movies are Spirited Away and The Princess and the Frog. She also enjoys shows in the "shonen" genre, such as One Piece and Mob Psycho 100. Sophia hopes this class will give her a step in the right direction for her dream career, writing for TV and eventually, creating a cartoon.

Daniel Zaragoza

Daniel Zaragoza is a junior at Covina High School. Born on August 9, 2005, Daniel likes to play baseball and go skateboarding with his friends. He has a shoe collection of newly released shoes and his favorite shoes. His favorite rap artist is YG. His favorite color is red. Daniel's favorite baseball team is the Houston Astros. In the future, Daniel wants to be a professional baseball player.

Vincent Armenta

Vincent Armenta was born June 17, 2004. He currently is a senior at Covina High School. In his journalism class he wants to work on making entertainment content. Some of his hobbies include playing video games, sports, and working out. After high school Vincent wants to travel to a couple different places such as Greece, Jamaica, and Rome before he goes off to college. In college, he hopes to continue his cross country and track career. For future plans he isn't sure yet on what he wants to do as a profession. But he has considered possibly joining a form of military branch like the Marines or maybe even the Air Force.

Julie Frarie is a freshman at Covina. She is interested in design, video production, and editing. Julie plans to study how to become a motion capture artist and work in the industry after college.

Ryan Martinez

Ryan Martinez is a junior at Covina High School. He has a hobby for sports, cars, and sleeping. His favorite sports teams are the LA Galaxy and Dallas Cowboys. His interest in cars is quite fascinating about how much he knows at such a young age. This past year has been an experience for him just like everyone else due to covid. The ups and downs causing a stop in school and outside activities, but that still isn’t stopping him from doing his work in and out of school.

Diego is an 11th grader and is 15 years old. After high school, he plans to go to college for four years. His hobbies include watching movies and playing sports.
