New Girl is about a girl who lives with three guy roommates, and the story revolves on all the four of them, their friendships, love, careers, highs and lows that they face in their life. They are Jessica Day (Zooey Deschanel), Nick Miller (Jake Johnson), Schmidt (Max Greenfield) and Winston(Lamorne Morris) and eventually Jess's childhood friend Cece (Hannah Simone). This show has managed to gain a lot of publicity and maintain a large population of viewers, exceeding the expectations of some critics.

The great thing about New Girl is that you can learn from the characters. Some of the things that happen to the characters are somewhat ridiculous, but you can learn from the mistakes that they make and a lot of the time their situation can relate it to a current one of your own. The show tends to focus on dating and romance.

New Girl contains lots of mature subject matter, but the shows overall focus on friendship makes it a heartwarming entertainment choice for those old enough to handle it. The show portrays diverse and real struggles that relate with viewers, as well as approachable characters whose arcs do not heavily rely on unnecessary cryptic messages and ambiguity to create interest and value.

Many viewers seem to relate to Nick and Schmidt the most because of Nick's honesty, sense of humor, inability to lie and Schmidt's sense of humor, cleanliness, and loyalty. Most people seem to enjoy Zoey’s character Jess while others seem to find her quirkiness annoying, “Deschanel proves she's truly an ensemble player, balancing Jess' flights of fancy with a relatable empathy for her TV buddies.” (John Griffiths, US Weekly). “New Girl tries too hard and falls short for doing so.”(David Wiegand, San Francisco Chronicle).

New Girl has some heart to it. Watching a bunch of people come together as a true group is the pure core of the series. It’s also a relationship comedy, so like all good sitcoms, there is a lot of “will they, won’t they?" This is made even better by the insane chemistry of the actors, but it somehow manages to develop naturally and never feel forced, even when later on they actually get together then fall apart and even that isn’t enough to totally dampen the chemistry between them.

The viewers see New Girl as the new Friends not only because of the romantic relationships like Jess/Nick and Ross/Rachel and Schmidt/Cece and Monica/Chandler, but the friendship relationships are amazing...the friendship between Jess and Cece are the new Monica and Rachel, Schmidt and Nick are the new Chandler and Joey, and Winston is the new Phoebe.
