Disney V. Sony - Spider-man

Sad news web-heads, Disney and Sony have now reached a stalemate on Spider-man and his involvement in the MCU. Because of this, the fan-favorite wall-crawler, for the time being, can no longer be in the MCU or and other related projects. despite making the deal all the way back in 2017, before Spider-man appeared first in Captain America: Civil War.

Several news outlets reported that “Disney and Sony had failed to reach an agreement regarding their continued Spider-Man partnership” more on this here. The report also stated that Disney wanted to “split the gross”, something that wasn’t with the previously agreed 5% when the deal was first signed.

This also brings into question the continuation of the Spider-man spinoffs (Into The Spider-Verse, Venom) Sony made as well the two other planned movies starring Tom Holland (the current actor of Spider-man), and any possible planned crossovers between the MCU and Sony's extended Spider-man universe.

Despite this news, we hope to see Tom Holland reprise his role as Spider-man.He released this statement: “It’s been five amazing years. I’ve had the time of my life. Who knows what the future holds? But all I know is that I’m going to continue playing Spider-man and having the time of my life. It’s going to be so fun, however we choose to do it. ” He went on, "the future for Spider-Man will be different, but it will be equally as awesome and amazing, and we’ll find new ways to make it even cooler.” (Gizmodo). So it may be that Tom might not be out of the job yet.

More recently, the Avengers: Endgame director, Joe Russo, who introduced Spider-man in Civil War expressed his thoughts on the matter, saying that this was a big mistake.

Matrix 4

Hope your ready to re-enter the Matrix, chosen ones, because a new film in the Matrix series has just been announced.

It has been set to star the fan favorite, Keanu Reeves as Neo, and Carrie-Anne Moss as Trinity once again. This new entry in the franchise will be directed by Lana Wachowski, who, along with her other Wachowski sibling, Lilly, created the original trilogy.

The original trilogy made “over 1.6 billion in the global box office” says Variety. Aleksandar Hemon and David Mitchell would be doing the script. Sources say the film is eyed to begin production at the top of 2020.

Rumors say that the creators behind this have been trying to get this movie out of development hell for a couple years. Now, the movie will probably garner more attention due to the fact that Keanu Reeves has ascended to super stardom because of his roles in John Wick, Toy Story 4, and other films recently.

A special screening of the first Matrix movie was shown in select AMC theaters to mark the 20th anniversary this year.
