Ukrainian Ace Fighter

Vladimir Putin’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine has led to the despair and suffering of many, but the Ukrainian people are continuing to fight and defend their homes. Even though the future may seem bleak, a beam of hope has shone through as news of a Ukrainian hero has surfaced. If you’ve been following the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, you might’ve already stumbled upon the urban legend of ‘The Ghost of Kyiv’. Twitter has dove into a frenzy covering the deeds of the pilot, which consist of shooting down six Russian military aircraft in the first 30 hours of the invasion and as of February 26—10. They’ve become the 21st Century’s first confirmed fighter ace; a military pilot credited with shooting down five or more enemy aircraft during aerial combat. Although it is still unknown who is piloting the Ukrainian MiG-29 plane and whether he is actually responsible for the 10 downed Russian planes, Ukrainians are grateful to this hero, as stories like these are the ones helping them maintain hope.
