HOMESHAKE, founded by solo musical based singer/songwriter Peter Sagar, is originally from Montreal, Quebec. Sagar’s goal with HOMESHAKE is to have a funky, jazzy, hip sound to them. He wants something people could listen to when they’re hanging out or at home creating art.

Peter is also good friends with Mac Demarco, (another artist I recommend) which inspired the birth of HOMESHAKE. He was also the former guitarist for Mac Demarco’s band. When you listen to HOMESHAKE you can hear nostalgic, Mac Demarco vibes. HOMESHAKE started off low key, but grows more popular with each new release.

He is publishing more content in February of next year. My favorite songs are “I Don’t Wanna” and “Home At Last.” They have a slow, jazzy feel to them. His newer album “Fresh Air” has a more low-fi sound to it which has received several positive reviews.

Over the years, Sagar has worked with other artists like Badbadnotgood, MNDSGN, Alex G, and another favorite artist of mine, Jerry Paper. Collaborating with these artists has drawn attention to Sagar.

HOMESHAKE is a one person band, meaning that Peter Sagar writes his own music, produces his own music, and makes his own funky sounds. Sagar has expressed that he doesn’t necessarily enjoy being in the limelight. Sagar says that he's felt “pressured” to make a faster tempo album since his last albums, DYNAMIC MEDITATION, and In The Shower (both have slow tempos). In an interview with Live in Limbo, Sagar expressed a desire not to be apart of “larger labels.” Sagar says that in order to make his music, he wants to be himself and to make music that he personally enjoys.
