This year is Girls Varsity Soccer Coach, Rashad Perez Loa’s first year as a coach at Covina.

Formerly, Loa was the Boy’s Soccer coach at South Hills but has moved on to bigger and better things over here at Covina.

He is currently leading the girls on an impressive start to the season with his star forward, Charisma Benitez, who has scored 16 goals in 10 games.

At first, it seemed Loa was a man of few words, but once you get to know him you find out that he is easy going and easy to talk to.

As Coach he has done an effective job of handling the teams social media account creating a Twitter and Instagram for the soccer program at Covina posting score updates, stats and pictures.

The accounts are doing well and have brought exposure to the program.

Currently the Girl's Varsity team only has one loss and JV is undefeated. It might be hard putting your trust in a new coach especially in his first year, but it seems like he knows what he’s doing based on his and the teams results.

When asked how they would describe Loa, an anonymous player described him as a “quiet genius."
