Covinas Spring Musical: Monty Python’s Spamalot

Just two months ago, Covina High performed Little Shop of Horrors, a classic musical about a man-eating plant from outer space. Now just two months away, Covina will take on another show, and its name is Spamalot. “Lovingly ripped off from the classic film comedy,” Spamalot is a parody musical about King Arthur and his knights of the round table. Filled with showgirls and a homicidal rabbit, it’s a show that you don’t want to miss.

Spamalot tells the tale of King Arthur as he travels through England, seeking men to join his round table. On the way he finds Sir Robin, Sir Lancelot, Sir Galahad, or Dennis, and others. He also reveals our leading lady, The Lady of the Lake and her Laker Girls, who urge him to find the Holy Grail. I won’t give the rest of the story away, but this show is a crackup and not one bit serious. Many of its songs, such as “Always Look On the Bright Side Of Life," come from movies created by Monty Python, a British comedy group.

If you can’t wait till March to see the show, check out Monty Python and the Holy Grail or Monty Python’s Flying Circus, available on Netflix. Covina will perform Spamalot at The Covina Center for the Performing Arts during March 5, 6, 7, and 13, 14, 15. Tickets are already on sale on the website.
