10. Mrs. America (2020)

A dramatization of the real-life movement to ratify the Equal Rights Amendment, this series features a large ensemble cast, including Cate Blanchett, Uzo Aduba, Rose Byrne, Sarah Paulson, among others. The main conflict comes from Blanchett’s character, who opposes the movement.

Blanchett and Aduba are the breakaway stars from the series, with critic reviews highlighting their performances in particular. While the show has a target demographic, it’s still worth following to check out so many A-list stars together that surprisingly make the heavy-handed themes entertaining to watch.

9. National Treasure (2016)

`National Treasure' is a four-part drama written by BAFTA-award winning writer Jack Thorne, starring Robbie Coltrane, Julie Walters, Andrea Riseborough and Tim McInnerny. The story follows Paul Finchley, an adored ageing comedian. Paul's career, as one half of a comedy duo, was a successful one, lasting over several decades. Though no longer appearing regularly on television the comedian is still often recognised in public and fans ask him to repeat his famous catchphrase. However when a rape case is opened against him, his world falls apart as he stands accused of a sexual offence dating back to the 1990s.

8. Harlots (2017)

In this drama set in 18th century London, Samantha Morton stars as Margaret Wells, a brothel owner and mother to two daughters, Charlotte and Lucy. When Margaret's business is attacked by Lydia Quigley (Lesley Manville), a ruthless rival madam, a war breaks out over the city's most profitable commercial activity -- sex. Margaret is determined to fight back and protect her business, even if it puts everything else at risk, including her family. Creators Moira Buffini and Alison Newman also serve as executive producers.

7. PEN15 (2019)

PEN15 is middle school as it really happened. Maya Erskine and Anna Konkle star in this adult comedy, playing versions of themselves as thirteen-year-old outcasts in the year 2000, surrounded by actual thirteen-year-olds, where the best day of your life can turn into your worst with the stroke of a gel pen.

6. Atlanta (2016)

Atlanta is one of the top cities for young rappers looking to make a name for themselves in the business. Among those up-and-comers is Alfred Miles, a hot new artist who is trying to understand the line between real life and street life. He is managed by his cousin, Earn, who gets caught up in the local rap scene and his cousin's career after returning home to the ATL. Earn does whatever he can to try to get Alfred's career to the next level. Darius, the rapper's right-hand man and visionary, is also in Alfred's entourage. When Earn isn't busy managing his cousin's career, he spends much of his time with best friend Vanessa, who is also the mother of his daughter.

5. Better Things (2016-22)

This series is about a divorced mother of three daughters who is also a working actress. The general conflict that comes here is how the main character has to juggle her personal life and volatile career.

Bringing some variation to the outline is how every daughter is distinct in mannerisms and attitude, which necessitates a particular style of parenting for each one of them. With the series set to close its doors, now is the best time to check out why critics love it so much by watching it from start to finish.

4. What We Do in the Shadows

Based on the feature film of the same name from Jemaine Clement and Taika Waititi, "What We Do in the Shadows" is a documentary-style look into the daily (or rather, nightly) lives of four vampires who've "lived" together for hundreds of years in Staten Island. The self-appointed leader of the group is Nandor the Relentless, a great warrior and conqueror from the Ottoman Empire. Then there's the British vampire Laszlo -- a bit of a rogue and a dandy and a fop, he might say. He's a lover of mischief and a great soirée, but not as much as he loves seeing Nandor fail miserably in every attempt. And then there's Nadja: the seductress, the temptress, the vampiric Bonnie to Laszlo's Clyde. Also cohabiting in the vampire household is Guillermo, Nandor's familiar; and Colin Robinson, an energy vampire and day-walker of sorts -- he feasts on humans, but not on their blood.
